These house columns were turned for a local contractor. They are 6 inches wide at the squares by about eleven feet high. Because they were so tall I had to make them in two pieces and glue them together. My lathe will turn eleven foot turnings but because of the narrow design, the column would have a tendency to wobble pretty badly on the lathe and so they had to be made in two pieces. The wood species for these was Spanish Cedar. The handsome young guy is my son.
