
CNN Money has an excellent article on some of the dumbest renovation fads that have cropped up in the last 20-30 years. It seems that homeowners and designers discover or develop a nice renovation idea but then take the idea to an unnatural extreme. If something is good then more of the same must be "gooder" - NOT!!
A good example is adding openness to your home. Many homes built 30 plus years ago segmented rooms into smaller spaces that were often not really used. My home had a "living room and dining room that was seldom used by anyone. And so, down came the walls to combine some of these rooms to open up and reclaim the use of these seldom used spaces. Some however have taken this to the extreme by making huge rooms. You can read the full piece here:
