Synopsis: Oak Mantel Surround

I found this antique oak fireplace mantel surround on an antique site (SOLD already). I thought it was interesting. The columns look veneered and not solid which was fairly prevalent around the turn of the last century from what I am told. These are called double mantels for obvious reasons. There is as much above the fire box of the fireplace as there is at the fireplace. The Corinthian Columns are capped with a highly ornamental capitals - carved or molded? - probably carved.
