Need a place to put recipe books and other interesting curios and nic-nacs. An open shelf system in the end of your kitchen island may be your ticket.  Some of the elements that add to this fine design is the arch above the open shelves, a very interesting base molding (probably custom made), a finely hand-carved-corbel and what appears to be a glazed finish on the cabinetry.  Notice to the raised panels and the bump out of the cabinet and counter.
