Synopsis: Fine Balcony Detail

balcony detail

Most stair balconies measure 36 inches high to the top of the balcony rail (the code requires 36 inches as a minimum). But 36 inches leaves very little room to display your fine balcony newel. My graphic illustrates one way to use a taller newel and still have a 36 inch rail height on the balcony. Use goosnecks to rise to the newel and drop down to the lower rail height. By the way, my graphic includes our fluted N105 newel (in cherry), balusters from our 1800's collection,  and 6310 handrail)
