Synopsis: Installing Newel Caps

newel cap

One of the most frequent questions I receive is how to install newel caps. Some of the stair installers I speak to have never installed newel caps. In fact, some have been installing stair systems for years and have not come across a stairway that required a newel post with a cap. It is a little more challenging than installing stock items from a stair manufacturer. I have written about it in other places and thought I should mention it here as well or at least provide a link to the full article. The pie cut from the newel cap is best cut on a bandsaw though I have seen it cut on a table saw with a shop built jig. Go here for the complete article: Installing the Newel Cap
