Synopsis: Swan Neck handrail

Swan Neck fitting

I posted other images from the work of Ctd 2005 from Flickr. This is a fine example of what he calls a "swan neck" fitting (commonly called a goose neck for the shorter varieties). The newel post look to be custom work as well as the rail and fitting. Notice how the rail "jogs" over to accommodate the wall - kind of a serpentine effect.
